‘Unmitigated disaster’: Trump compares botched Democratic Iowa caucuses to Obamacare website rollout

.

President Trump ripped Iowa Democrats for the disastrous app failure that left the results of the first-in-the-nation vote unknown as of Tuesday morning.

During Monday night’s caucuses, the reporting app that Iowa Democrats relied on to deliver the results failed, leaving the party chaotically calling precincts to receive reports. By Tuesday morning, no results had been confirmed by the party.

Trump then compared the caucus app failure to the botched rollout of the $840 million Obamacare website, Healthcare.gov, in 2014, tweeting, “The Democrat Caucus is an unmitigated disaster. Nothing works, just like they ran the Country. Remember the 5 Billion Dollar Obamacare Website, that should have cost 2% of that. The only person that can claim a very big victory in Iowa last night is ‘Trump.’”

The president was joined by other party leaders in criticizing the Democratic Party for the reporting failure. Republican Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney also ripped the party, writing, “If you can’t run a caucus, you definitely can’t run the country.”

As Trump noted, he had a clean victory in Iowa and defeated his two primary challengers by margins of more than 95%. The president acknowledged his success on Twitter, writing, “Big WIN for us in Iowa tonight. Thank you!”

The chaos for Democrats led to several candidates claiming victory while the party worked to sort out the true results. Sen. Bernie Sanders released internal reporting that showed him as the victor, while Pete Buttigieg gave a victory speech without waiting for the state to announce the winner.
