NBC Tweets Support For Oprah 2020 During Globes: ‘OUR Future President’

There has been strong reaction to Oprah Winfrey‘s powerful speech at Sunday night’s Golden Globe Awards.

Judging from what was shown in the telecast, there was not a dry eye in the room as the legendary talk show host gave her acceptance speech while accepting the Cecil B. DeMille award. And her speech has already sparked a movement for a possible 2020 presidential run.

However, NBC went all in on the prospect of an Oprah BEFORE she gave her speech. At 8:09 p.m. ET — after Oprah was applauded during Seth Meyers’s opening monologue — the network Tweeted the following:

“Nothing but respect for OUR future president,” NBC tweeted on the night of the Golden Globes.

NBC’s tweet came after this joke from Seth Meyers during his monologue:

“In 2011, I told some jokes about our current president at the White House Correspondents Dinner. Jokes about how he was unqualified to be president. Some have said that night convinced him to run. So if that’s true, I just want to say: Oprah, you will never be president! You do not have what it takes!”

Perhaps, if the benefit of the doubt is given, then NBC was simply playing up a funny joke. Or maybe they’re about to announce that she is going to run their network. But if the benefit of the doubt isn’t given, then for the first time ever, an entire broadcast network endorsed a person for president even before they’ve declared their candidacy.

Not even Hillary Clinton was that lucky.
