Republican Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey was photographed wearing Nike sneakers on the Fourth of July despite his opposition to the company for their decision to pull a new shoe design that featured the Betsy Ross American flag.
Nike opted not to release the shoe after former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick informed the company that he and others considered the flag to be offensive since it was used in a time when slavery existed in the country.
Wow, @dougducey standing on principle wearing his Nikes for the 4th of July. #nikeboycott #Nike pic.twitter.com/NTU6kmpQc0

Coconino County Democrats tweeted a photo of Ducey wearing Nike sneakers Thursday and Phoenix’s ABC affiliate, KNXV, was able to verify it.
“Words cannot express my disappointment at this terrible decision. I am embarrassed for Nike,” Ducey tweeted Tuesday, explaining that they were supposed to announce a major investment with the company in the state. “Nike is an iconic American brand and American company. This country, our system of government and free enterprise have allowed them to prosper and flourish.”
Instead of celebrating American history the week of our nation’s independence, Nike has apparently decided that Betsy Ross is unworthy, and has bowed to the current onslaught of political correctness and historical revisionism. 5/

He went on to argue that “it is a shameful retreat for the company” and that “Arizona’s economy is doing just fine without Nike.”
