Chris Christie: ‘God bless Howard Schultz. Run, Howard, run’

.

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie believes President Trump will sail to victory in the 2020 election if former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz runs as an independent.

“God bless Howard Schultz,” Christie said on Fox News Tuesday. “Run, Howard, run.”

Schultz has been flirting with a third-party run, as he fears Democrats will nominate someone who is too far to the Left. Democrats in response are already accusing Schultz of spoiling a possible Trump defeat.

“With Howard Schultz in the race, [Trump] will have an absolutely smashing victory over whoever the Democrat is,” Christie said.

Christie said it’s too early to tell who will win the Democratic nomination. He cited the 2016 Republican primary race as an example of what can happen.

“At this time three years ago, you know, people were saying Jeb Bush was the front-runner,” he said.

Christie himself has no plans to challenge Trump in 2020, he said.

“I’m not challenging the president in 2020. I’m a friend of the president. I’m a supporter of the president,” Christie said.
